Click Analytics: What the Data Really Tells You
Counting clicks is easy. Interpreting them correctly is different. Learn what link data can and cannot answer.
A click is an event, not an intention
A click proves that a request reached the link. It does not necessarily mean a person read the page, completed a purchase or even saw the content.
Patterns are more useful than isolated numbers
Compare periods, campaigns or channels to find trends. A sudden increase deserves investigation rather than an automatic celebration.
Automated traffic exists
App previews, crawlers and verification systems can open URLs. A simple click counter should not be presented as a perfect unique-person metric.
Use analytics to ask better questions
Instead of only asking how many clicks you got, ask what changed after a publication or which channel attracted more attention.
Privacy is part of analytics
The more data you collect, the greater the responsibility. Collect what is needed, explain why and keep policies clear.
